Mark your calendars because ICSB Academy will be hosting Slush GIA pitch competition in conjunction with this year’s ICSB Academy in Taiwan on Tuesday, June 26th! For the second year in a row, ICSB Academy has partnered with Slush to host a global impact accelerator (GIA) pitch competition and provide impact-driven entrepreneurs from emerging markets access to accelerate their business, attract additional financing, and build long-lasting networks. ICSB Academy students and World Congress attendees have the opportunity to witness a new venture pitch competition where local entrepreneurs compete for an amazing business development opportunity and the opportunity to participate in Slush annual conference in Finland.
Slush has grown from a 300-person conference in 2008 to a one of a kind event drawing over 15,000 people to Helsinki in November. Slush has also run GIA events throughout the world since 2015. In 2017 Slush expanded its hubs to include six African countries, three Middle Eastern countries, five countries in Asia and the Far East and four Central and South America countries including Slush Argentina in collaboration with ICSB Academy. Slush GIA is a program created in collaboration with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and other global partners. The purpose is to support impact-driven startups and showcase the exciting business opportunities in emerging markets, which are also vital for implementing the Agenda 2030. In addition, the program focuses on strengthening the networks between the impact actors, engaging the Nordic community with the global impact entrepreneurs, and enhancing the mobilization of capital towards impactful business. Last years, Slush made its ICSB Academy debut at the Centro Metropolitano de Diseño in Buenos Aires, a local state-of-the-art co-working space where scores of students, global faculty, and conference attendees gathered to watch five local startups compete for the chance to fly to Helsinki and participate in a program that included online pre-event coaching and Helsinki BootCamp program from November 25– December 2, 2017, culminating in Slush. The winner of the competition was Nico Llanas, founder of Lanic who attended the boot camp and Slush in Finland with 2 of his colleagues.
This year’s ICSB Academy hosted Slush GIA pitch competition will be held at Taipei New Horizon located at No. 88, Yanchang Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan 110. ICSB Academy students will witness the local entrepreneurial culture, learn from practitioners and develop a benchmark for their own pitches during ICSB Global Congress later in the week.
